People, Packs, Punkrock

That’s it in a nutshell, well, pretty close. We like talking to people, writing about gear, and occasionally sharing some music… just because. Over the years we have updated this “About” page a few times because, like life, things change a little as time passes. There are a few things that haven’t changed though. This is still a family run effort. You still won’t find any affiliate links or advertisements here. We still don’t use your presence here to generate revenue. Everything we post is an honest opinion, not one bought, paid for, or biased by ambassador programs or sponsorships.

Hike It Like It is about making connections.

Being on the trails with a light backpack, or flying along in some running shoes, is freedom. To simultaneously be immersed in nature, to be self sufficient, disconnected from devices and the web, and to be moving under our own power is such a simple and beautiful synergy of things that are just good for us. Hike It Like It is about helping you connect with these things and about sharing our experiences out on the trail.

Who Are We?

I’m Jacob D. I’m an ex-engineer type. Found the trails and realized I needed to make some changes in my life. I hike (and usually backpack) every month. Most of my trips are shorter due to being one half of the parental unit at home, but I can cover 30+ miles in a day. My turn on’s include trail running, street tacos, and good beer.

Sandra “Tenacious” D is my better half. She’s a tough chick who isn’t afraid to get a little dirty, remove the odd tick from me, or potty in the woods. Every once in a while I bend her arm a little and she’ll make a blog post. Sandra hikes, bikes, runs, and swims. When the notion strikes, she’ll hit up a local triathlon or two. We don’t call her Tenacious for nothing.
